Astrology and Cosmobiology: A Potpourri of Cases

Presented by Janet Sansoni

Saturday 21st July, 2-5pm

Janet’s talk today “Astrology and Cosmobiology” is a reflection on some of the astrological techniques she has found useful, and not so useful.

Over the years she has tried various astrological techniques, including the house system and Cosmobiology, and usually finds that the simplest techniques such as the 45 degree transit graph, the 90 degree dial and planets in relation to the Midheaven and the Ascendant are amongst the most useful. Sometimes in searching for an answer in charts astrologers can sometimes get lost in the detail and can’t see the wood for the trees – in whatever system they use.

When teaching, Jan encourages students to use the more holistic approach of planetary syndrome and midpoint synthesis rather than to try and interpret each aspect in isolation from each other. She still feels that skills related to the ability to synthesize, as well as to analyse, information are the key to interpretation in astrology.

As a scientist by background, she is interested in “where astrology seems to work” and “where it doesn’t” – or where it puzzles us. As a psychologist, she is also interested in how psychological problems and issues are reflected in both the natal and transiting aspects. In today’s talk, Janet will examine some interesting cases that create a challenge for interpretation.

Janet Sansoniabout Janet
Janet has studied Astrology and Cosmobiology for over forty years. As she is the daughter of Doris Greaves she started young!

In her twenties she was President of the Victorian Branch of the FAA, a member of the National FAA committee and a Director of the Regulus-Ebertin Cosmobiology Study Group. At the same time she also taught astrology classes for many years. She has lectured at international and local astrology conferences.

Due to her professional commitments as a psychologist and academic she moved to Canberra so astrology and Cosmobiology became more of a personal rather than a professional interest. However, over the years she still found time to assist Doris, and her sister Gillian Barnsley, in editing and contributing to various Cosmobiology texts. Janet looks forward to coming down to Melbourne and catching up with her many astrological colleagues.
