Chiron: An evolving journey of awareness and healing through the experience of pain
presented by Marg Wood
Tracking Chiron through life may bring painful reminiscences, yet embedded in this experience is the potential for healing.
“The separation of body from self, and by extension the separation of body and mind, is an adaptation to distressing life events …” James Kepner in Body Process p.29.
Wounding and pain is the early trigger for disconnection from parts of self. Whilst bringing some respite from pain, it also leaves us with less capacity to protect and care for self, and can exacerbate the underlying pain. Reclaiming and integrating lost aspects of self and re-sensitizing self to the wholeness of embodied experience is part of the Chiron journey. Through walking the Chiron road of wounding and pain we can reconnect with the fuller self and become consciously embodied in our journey on earth.
“I like feeling my pain because then I know I’m alive” said a gestalt client living the Chiron myth.
In this session we will explore the cycle of Chiron through life, and the gifts that wounding brings to us, from a gestalt perspective.
About the Speaker
Dip.Teaching (ATTI), Dip.Naturopathy (SSNT), Dip.Homoeopathy (honorary HERA), Dip.Astrology (FAA), Adv.Dip.Gestalt Therapy (GTA), Master Gestalt therapy (GTB)
In 1977, Margaret Wood began studying astrology independently, developing her knowledge and understanding through conversation with colleagues and application in practice. In 1978 she began teaching fellow naturopathic students the mathematics of chart construction and in 1992 started teaching an introductory course in astrology. Later on this developed into a school for professional astrological training which ran until 2012.
In 1985 Marg commenced training as a psychotherapist and went on to become a Master of Gestalt Therapy. She is in private practice in Ringwood, teaches at the Southern School of Natural Therapies and gives numerous public presentations in her areas of expertise. Her book, Astrohom: the subtle link between astrology and homoeopathy, is still being written!
The sense of expectancy in the astrological community prior to Chiron’s discovery was palpable in Melbourne, with many conjectures about a new planet, culminating in its discovery in 1977. This year was a pivotal point in Margaret’s life personally and professionally, setting her on the path to become the educator and healer she is today.
