Chiron, Forty Years Later
presented by Zane Stein
In 1977, astronomer Charles Kowal discovered a body between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus, wwhich he named Chiron. He first thought it was a planet, and indeed newspapers such as The New York Times headlined the story with “Tenth Planet Discovered.”
Zane B. Stein led the astrological research into this new body and published the first astrological text on Chiron a few years later. Much has been written about Chiron since its discovery and Chiron is now included in most astrology software programs.
While many astrologers are content to use the early findings on Chiron as the wounded healer in their counselling sessions, there are more layers to Chiron than initially surmised. In the forty years since it was discovered, so much more has been learned about Chiron’s symbolism.
In this lecture, Zane will take you through some of the more ‘traditional’ meanings ascribed to Chiron, and he will then explore some of the additional levels of meaning astrologers have uncovered over the past four decades.
Zane B. Stein is an American astrologer, recognized internationally as an expert on Chiron and the Centaurs.
Zane began studying astrology from the age of 18. His study of Chiron began with its discovery in 1977 when he contacted Dr Brian Marsden, then-head of the Minor Planet Centre at the Smithsonian astrophysical Observatory who provided him with an ephemeris of this new body.
Zane has lectured in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, and Australia. He holds membership of the Association For Astrological Networking (AFAN) and the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), is a published author of books and articles, and is considered the world’s leading astrological authority on Chiron. For his work in this field, he received the ‘Canopus Award For Excellence’ in 1998.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA on 17th June 1951, Zane now resides in Victoria Park, WA, with his wife, Australian astrologer Lynette Malone.
