Making the Most of Awkward Planet Pairings

Presented by Frank Clifford

In this new seminar, Frank Clifford will examine a number of so-called ‘difficult’ planetary combinations that many students and astrologers seem to dread. He’ll consider their astrological meanings and principles, and draw on the horoscopes and life stories of clients and notable people to see how these combinations have been used productively and successfully

Frank will also look at the much-maligned ‘square’ aspect. Consider, for example, the actor James Earl Jones, who has battled a stammer all his life. He has Mercury in Capricorn on the Ascendant square Uranus in Aries. Mercury–Uranus is a combination associated with stuttering (as well as mental agility and speed). In his autobiography, he conveys the energy of the square aspect: ‘A stutterer ends up with a greater need to express himself… the desire to speak builds and builds until it becomes part of your energy, your life force.’ Appropriately for the square’s demand for mastery, Jones’s resonant baritone has been a key to his acting fortunes as an adult, and he is best remembered for lending his voice to CNN and the character Darth Vader in Star Wars.

In this seminar, combinations include Moon–Uranus, Mercury–Saturn, Venus–Saturn, Mars–Neptune and Saturn–Neptune. Feel welcome to bring your charts along and share your stories.
