During my past three trips to Egypt, my gaze has always been upward memorized by the star maps, decans, and the zodiac panels on the ceilings of temples and tombs. One of the oldest celestial sky maps found in Egypt are those in the astronomical ceiling of Senenmut’s Tomb, who was the architect of Hatshepsut, the female Pharoah from the 18th Dynasty ( 1499BC-1458 BC). In March this year, I was lucky to have been given the keys to open this tomb for our group as we were given special permission to go inside. It is not usually open for tourists as it’s a very small space.
During my lecture, I show my photos and explain the astrological and astronomical symbolism in this tomb, and more from other temples like Esna and Dendera. Join me on my virtual mystical and magical tour of Egypt!
